Good ole Latuff. Even when there's a lull in the fighting in the Middle East, and all the Indymedians' favourite trendy trouble spots have gone quiet, Latuff still manages to find a way to offend people.

This time, we have one cartoon reprsenting the Spanish judiciary as an evil fascist beating up the Basque Country with a lawbook, and another showing an Oppressed Basque Peasant in stocks which appear to be made out of another lawbook. This is shortly after the Basque seperatists ETA blew up the ruling Socialist party's campaign office in Basque Country, which comes after a court decision to disallow ETA thugs from participating in the election because they're still trying to blow people up.

Stop Press: Oh, and here he is praising the glorious resistance of the Taliban. On the same page, there's also a neat comparison between Obama and, Bush and that lovely fascist trope, Obama Stabbing The Troops In The Back (with a stamp that sends them to Afghanistan).

It's not just this his cartoons are nasty, contentious and mean-spirited, they're not even funny. In fact they're almost a guide of how not to do cartoons.

Shows us how enlightened and progressive the (non-Gaza, non-Hamas) Palestinian government are for appointing women to be judges in their, er, sharia courts. A court system notorious around the world for its' barbaric punishments and extreme sexism.

I don't really see how this is particularly interesting news for the UK, and I suppose it's progress in a way, but still...

You'd think left-wing activists would have the sense to keep quiet about their mates being adherents to such an unfair system of justice would you... unless of course they weren't left wing at all but in fact a bunch of right wing scumbags in leftist clothing.

Stop press- The author of the peice, Kawther Salaam, is an interesting character: a conspiraloon who writes for prisonplanet.com (see this brilliantly pedantic piece about how Al-Qaeda doesn't exist), various other websites and her own blog, where she (Warning! VERY NASTY dead babies image coming up!) berates teh evil j000z from a comfy pad in, er Austria.

The Indymedia article is basically a piece of spam from this person. It must be nice to have your own personal loudhailer in which you can spout bollox about "progressive" sharia law and so forth. And this PR puff-piece for Sharia law, written by a blantantly manipulative propagandist -is just one sample of the type of person that posts on UK Indy!

Of course, it never occurs to them that, nowadays, people at university have got themselves into pretty much unpayable debt so they can get an education, and cannot just take the year again because some upper middle class, jihadi-hugging soap-dodger is too busy playing at fake 1968 wevolushunawies to let their fellow students go about their business.

Apparently, the NUS "is run by a bunch of zionist wankers" and have been since at least 2001, and Krop knows this because s/he was unable to get their denunciatory piece published way back then, possibly when s/he mistook their local student rag for the Volkisher Beobachter.

Meanwhile Krop enters a completely delusional world, ranting about NUS officials and accusing his interlocutor of being a "Labour party holding NUS executive scumbag." Still, at least they admit that it's not the first time some exasperated citizen has called them out on their shit.

This site is inspired by the old Indymediawatch blog. It is not otherwise related to it.

Who Am I?
I'm keeping that to myself right now. Indymediacs often like to remain anonymous, and I reserve the same right, especially knowing how nasty they can get if crossed. Let's just say that I'm someone who has made it my business to catalogue some of the bullshit that UK Indymedia gets up to.

What bullshit? I thought they were a pretty straight bunch of guys.
You thought wrong! Indymedia is notorious for filling its newswire with utter crap, some of it quite nasty. I'm guessing this blog will mainly cover the anti-semitism that seems to be their main stock-in-trade, but will also have plenty of room for the conspiracy theories, incitement to violence, hypocricy, censorship and general neo-Stalinist nonsense that has made Indymedia infamous.

Why? For God's sake, man, why??
I'm hoping to encourage the activist community to boycott indymedia and start something new, less centralised and stifling. I also want to expose these people for what they are.

I didn't say "what for?", I said "why?" What's your beef?
Because I have good reasons to believe that the mods who run and control Indymedia is not entirely honest about their mission. Indymedia seems to be run by a group of people who are obsessed with "zionists" and "zionism" , who repeatedly try and stir up trouble and egg people on to have a go at Jewish-owned or run businesses, and who promote really politically dodgy stuff like all those 9/11 conspiracy theories and links to extreme right wing American websites.

Some of it's actually funny. Anti-semitism is the sinister clown of the hatreds, its' adherents are comically paranoid, and often run around accusing each other of being (cough) "Zionists" at the drop of a hat, let alone any citizen who does not see things their way. It's fun to mess with people like that and it's fun to see their horrified reaction when they realise they are actually being laughed a la Speak You're Branes.

On a more serious note, I find it very disturbing, sinister even, that such people are appropriating the language and practice of Leftism and that the left seem to be playing along for the most part. Only a few old fashioned class struggle anarchists, Jewish socialists and other oddballs ever question this disgraceful behaviour, I want to lend my voice to this lot.

Unlike Indymedia I don't have any conspiracy theories to throw around; I know that people are just stupid and nonsensical enough to pull stuff like this. I do know however that there are a few people who want to make an ideology which has murdered millions of people within living memory acceptable again. I think it's time for good people everywhere to say "no" to them.
